OUGD602: Paint by number submission

I found an open submission for artists to submit designs for a printed publication. I intended to submit a calligraphy painting but ran out of time so just submitted a few photographs I'd taken.

Deadline; 14th April

Unfortunately I was unsuccessful with this submission, but Paint by number asked if they could post my work on their Instagram feed which I was more than happy with.

OUGD602: Bruno Ceschel talk / Self Publish Be Happy

Yesterday I went to the talk by Bruno Ceschel on his book Self Publish, Be Happy, which was interesting to hear about the type of artist books that Aperture publish. It inspired me to continue designing my own photo books to make a physical archive of my photographs, as one point Bruno made was that the digital archives we have are intangible and not as secure as we may think. It's also just nice to have photos printed, especially as a project collection.

OUGD602: Workshop / Mural painting skills

We were back with Pete Barber today to do a morning session about painting techniques ahead of doing the two murals with him (Plusnet and Lyons building). He introduced us to spray paint which is something I've never used before to create artwork so it was good to get an idea of how to control the marks, from lines to blending and filling in with colour.  He also showed us some sign painting techniques and let us use his tools and equipment which was useful for me.

OUGD602: Letter painting commission

I was approached today by someone via Instagram to produce a single letter painting based on work they'd seen of mine online. After talking to the client about it we agreed on £15 for a 16cm2 painting of the letter. Here's the finished piece to send;
